HISTORY OF THE ACADEMYHOW IT HAPPENEDThe David Beckham Academy is the realization of a dream that David had many years ago. As a boy he was lucky enough to take part in the Bobby Charlton Soccer School – since then David has always wanted to give children the same chance he had. The Academy in Los Angeles was opened in the fall of 2005. It features professional locker rooms for the participants, state-of-the-art media room where introductions and classroom session take place and a third generation turf field. There are shaded bleacher sections for the parents to sit and watch their children. Boys and girls 7-15 years old will be able to participate in three or five-day camps and 4-7 year olds can take part in a Saturday morning programs that runs throughout the year. The Academy also runs a successful School Outreach Program that consists of a training session linked with nutrition and human anatomy challenges. After launching both the London and Los Angeles Academies in 2005, David has further openings planned in Asia and South America. The dream has only just begun... |
