ABOUT THE ACADEMY
MAKE A CHOICE
YOUR DAY AT THE ACADEMYMost camps start at 9.00 am but some may start at 12.30 pm -please check each individual camp. 9:00am - I checked in at the front entrance of Home Depot Center with my parents, and then I received my new adidas uniform and cleats, which I get to keep! All the kids went to The David Beckham Academy locker rooms inside the stadium to get changed and then went to the media room to meet the Director of Coaching and the other coaches. We learned about some of the skills we would be working on and watched a special video message from David Beckham. Mom and Dad attended the introduction with me and then stayed after to hear a few more announcements, then they were dismissed to come watch me or to go home. 10:00am - The first training session. This consisted of a warm-up and skills circuits. 11:00am - Snack break (granola bar). 11.15am - In the second session we did another warm-up and then more exercises, including dribbling, turning and passing. 12:15pm - We were served a healthy lunch which included a choice of a turkey sandwich or pasta and an apple. The lunch was included in the price. 1:00pm - We were divided into different countries (our World Cup Teams!!) and then completed a team building exercise in order to gain points for our team. Who ever did it the best received the most points. 1:30pm - In the afternoon we did another warm up and broke up into our skills groups and did a crossing and finishing exercise. 2:15pm - After a water break and a small snack, we played small sided games like 3 v 3 and 4 v 4. 3.30pm - We did a cool down and then headed back to the locker rooms to get changed. We left our uniforms in the locker rooms where they will be washed and ready for all my new friends and me tomorrow. Tomorrow, a company called Athletes Performance comes and tests our speed and agility. On the last day we play the World Cup in our countries and receive our certificates. I can't wait! 4:00pm - My Mom came and picked me up and I headed home to rest up for tomorrow. It’s one of the best days I’ve ever had! |
